Not Guilty (by your peers)

I try to avoid too much social commentary here. And too much religious commentary as well. This post will cover both. So X out now if you need to.

The verdict on the Casey Anthony case was just read. If you're unfamiliar (which can't be, seeing as you're reading this on the interwebs), little Caylee Anthony was found dead, duct-taped, in a river. Her disappearance wasn't reported for over a month by her mother (Casey). The jury found Casey not guilty on all degrees of murder, as well as manslaughter and child abuse. She was found guilty on four counts of falsifying information to police.

We can make jokes. Did she have the same jury as OJ? Is Florida just that lax on murder?

But. A baby is dead. For no reason. And no one is FOUND guilty? That is beyond sad.

I can't know if Casey did it. Only Casey can know. But I do know that in my gut, I feel that Casey was involved. She at least KNOWS when/how/why Caylee died.

She won't serve time - on this earth - for this crime. She may serve a bit for falsifying information. But because of who she is, she will be very much separated from the prison population.

However. One day, she will meet and face a much bigger jury. If she is guilty, she will face something far worse than we could ever imagine. I fully believe that.

In the meantime her life here on earth will honestly suck. The only thing she has been legitimately found guilty of is no more than a misdemeanor. However, she will have the hardest time landing a job. She is at odds with her family. She will be haunted by crazy media-court watchers. If she isn't killed out on the street, I see her taking her own life before too long.

The next few months will be interesting for sure. Although hopefully we'll have a bit of a media reprieve. And by that, I mean reprieve from Nancy Grace and Star Jones!
