Goals Update

Last time, on Pennie For Your Thoughts...

  1.  Lose 25-50 pounds (Focus on eating well and being active 3+ times a week)
  2. Become pregnant (I think The Hubs is cool with working on this)
  3. Renew house search in May/June-ish.
  4. Plan weddings!
  5. Strengthen marriage
  6. Get E in pre-school (?)
  7. Fun trip, not to see family (who knows where this stands?)
  8. More active in singing/theater (hold for the summer?)
  9. Refine obligations at church (stay strong, sister!)
  10. Pay down debts (just one credit card left! & car)(keep on chugging)
Edited to:
  1.  Eat better foods and less of them, and move more
  2. Become pregnant
  3. Dave Ramsey plan
  4. Get PLE up and running
  5. Strengthen marriage
  6. Find classes for E-Boo now!

  9. ???
  10. ???
1) Don't we all want this? I have joined Weight Watchers and the local LA Fitness. It's an ongoing process. Excuses: health issues, holidays, parties, The Hubs traveling, picky child... Blahblahblah. Renewed today. I will be posting my losses (which is a life gain!) here. I try to avoid numbers, so I keep that for my WW leader. Some non-scale goals: C25K, shop at a non-plus-size-store/section, have lower blood pressure (well, that is a number, but numbers are fact), stop drinking soda (day 5 days down as of reading this!). A great help has been work. We have a wonderful Heath Initiative so everyone is like-minded there. We were given Fit Bits and several of my colleagues attend WW! Stays as is.

2) *sigh* Long story short, this is really off of my list for right now. Its deeply personal, and maybe I'll share, maybe not. But today, I need to focus on the family that I do have, not the family I don't have.

3) Constant issue, money. Isn't it the #1 reason for divorce (not that we're anywhere near that!)? The Hubs and I need to really sit down and get back on that DR train. Next weekend we have several down days (EBoo is having minor surgery) so that might be a good time to review The Plan and get a great working budget!

4) Well, there is more information forthcoming on why this isn't a huge priority. In the mean time... I'm a volunteer coordinator at my church for weddings. I basically help Father with the rehearsal, herd the cats - I mean wedding party, and clean up. Its fun! Also... my dear cousin is getting married in 11 months! She's asked me to help coordinate things for her (she's all ambitious and getting married just a month or so after graduating with med school, so she is a bit busy), as well as sing for the wedding and EBoo will be the cutest ring bearer ever! Anyway, this keeps my toes wet in the industry and I'm loving this level of involvement.

5) Despite The Hubs traveling about 50% of the time (I know!) I say we have a pretty strong relationship. Since the last goal update, we suffered a very crushing loss to our family. As terrible as it was, I'm thankful in a way, as it really brought us so much closer together. Our work schedules make it hard to line up date nights, but we find ways to have mini-dates at home now and then. This is good. Very good. But always something to work on.
Good.

6) Eboo has completed his first year of school. He sailed through it. He made great friends and is sososo smart (I guess I'm biased?). He really loves school. He also attended religious education during the year, and watching him learn about Jesus, God and our Church is really amazing. This month, he took an exploratory sports class, where they learned a new sport each week. We might have a little Pele on our hands, he really took to soccer! I'm such a proud Momma. One more year of school and then off to kindergarten  I'd love to get him in swimming lessons (more for safety than anything) and maybe something musical in the meantime.

7) Travel! Well, The Hubs has been all over thanks to work, but he tells me that isn't fun, so it doesn't count. I don't know, eating out, a hotel room to myself, uninterrupted sleep. Sounds fun to me! Regardless, we haven't been anywhere as a couple or family since my last goal update, but a Disney trip is in the works! I enjoyed my trips to the West and East coasts (minus being stuck in the hurricane!). We spent some time in Iowa and Kentucky seeing our families. We'll work on this more after we wrangle #3. Priorities, right?

8) This was originally "become more involved in the arts" and then was edited to "build life in Indiana". Per my previous post, I have become somewhat involved in church, and made some amazing friends here! But... One of my biggest news bulletins is that I have a job!! At a theater! I went back to my roots and am selling tickets in the box office. Its been great, as the position is part-time, giving me a nice and easy way to transition back into working after so many years off. I can't say enough wonderful things about this. I'm sure I'll gloat from time to time here and maybe share some stories. The theater itself is beautiful, the artists we have coming in are top-notch, the patrons are happy to be there and my colleagues are fantastic to work with. Can you tell I'm happy? Of course, one can always improve, so I'm keeping my eyes open on how to build and grow my new-again career

9) Well, my edited list didn't have a #9, so I'm putting Ministry back on. I need focus, faith and fellowship. I need to minister and I need ministered to. As I mentioned before, I am volunteering with the weddings at the parish, I am involved in CRHP (a less aggressive commitment for another 2 years), and of course, music. I have a few other balls in the air. I need to have some meetings with the people in charge.

10) Well. I just don't have a #10. No ideas. Nothing. What am I missing? Ideas?
