"Fat Chance" - Deborah Blumenthal

Premise: "its ok to be fat" columnist is contracted to be a coach for a Hollywood hunk staring as a weight-loss doctor in his upcoming film. She slims down in anticipation of meeting him. Has a torrid love affair, despite the fact that he has a live-in girlfriend. Goes home where her BMF (best male friend) finally realizes he wuvs her. So, lets ignore the unrealistic: a woman large enough to write a 'fat' column loses all of 30 pounds in 6 weeks and is now considered skinny. Although, not in LA. In the 2 weeks that shes gone, BMF gets engaged and is getting married. And his fiance convinces him to lose weight and buy all of these suave clothes (before, he was a laid back cowboy who loved food). She flys back to NYC to work. Has a fight on the news floor with BMF and goes back to LA for comfort. Realizes that was stupid, because she misses a deadline. HEads back to NYC without saying goodbye to her luvah. BMFs mom just died and fiance couldn't take time off of work to mourn. Then suddenly BMF realizes the heroine is thin. And they live happily ever after. Not. Kidding. The best part of this book is the food pron. I would like to tour the eateries in NYC now. The end. So, PASS. Spend your money on a good cookbook instead.
