May of 2011:
- Lose 25-50 pounds (Focus on eating well and being active 3+ times a week)
- Become pregnant (I think The Hubs is cool with working on this)
- Renew house search in May/June-ish.
- Plan weddings!
- Strengthen marriage
- Get E in pre-school (?)
- Fun trip, not to see family (who knows where this stands?)
- More active in singing/theater (hold for the summer?)
- Refine obligations at church (stay strong, sister!)
- Pay down debts (just one credit card left! & car)(keep on chugging)
Yeah... A lot has changed! I've made a few notes, but I'll talk out what I'm thinking here. I'd love suggestions from the Peanut Gallery (thats you, dear Reader) also!
1: Focus on eating well and being active. I can honestly say this is a big fail. The several months were we were in limbo mid-move was not a good time for me. But, that is the past, and in order to make changes, I must be willing to change. Steps I am taking - having little to no starch side dish with my dinners; SCHEDULING my Wii work outs; playing outside with my boys & dogs; The Hubs gave up fast food for Lent, so by proxy, I pretty much have too. I am not in a place where I can join a gym or a weight loss program. Yet. But my whole family could benefit from better (and less) food and more moving. I am unsure of how to set goals for this goal. I don't care to weigh myself, that means nothing to me. I judge by how I feel, how my clothes fit. But that is the outside. I went to the doctor last week and got a full physical work-up. I'm awaiting those numbers and will see them change over the coming months. All of this is to prepare for...
2: Get pregnant. We are well into Year Two of this goal. Both The Hubs and myself have health issues standing in the way. But, we have gotten a new doctor here who has referred us to specialists and put me on some medicine to get my innards straightened out. Adoption is on the table too, but that is a very LONG table. E-Boo will be a big brother one day, no matter how!
3: Buy a house. In case you live under a rock, that gets a big fat CHECK!!!! I can't tell you how much it means to us to have this house. The Hubs and I were so sad to leave our house to move TO Colorado. And then the prices there were Mile High, just like everything else. E-Boo has a great yard to play in, we have neighbors (I think. We've not met any!). And we can PAINT! And we have (obviously). So... That means I need a new goal! Since the house was pretty much a financial thing, I am updating my goals with Get back on the Dave Ramsey Train. When we were hardcore, we were rocking it. We aren't in an awful place yet. But, I still have one credit card (which is on a strict payment plan), a car, The Hubs student loans, and now the house. Our new parish offers the classes, so we'll sign up for the next round and journey through the Baby Steps.
4: Plan weddings! Like everything else in my life, this was on hold for a few months. Now that we are settled, unpacked and living, I can focus on this more. I have a myriad of tasks to complete to get Pennie Lane up and running! I have a wedding in August in California. I have signed up to coordinate weddings at our new parish. I have partnered with a friend that is a great graphic designer for my clients paper needs. In April, our new parish has a formal dinner & dance, this serves as the big fund-raiser for the year. People donate a lot of items & services to be bid on. I thought I'd donate a DOC package to the auction. From my experience, this will get my name out there, and word of mouth is the best for someone in an industry like mine. Hopefully someone bids!!
5: Strengthen Marriage. Much like my diet, I feel my marriage suffered during the in-limbo move period. The Hubs was hating his last job, stressing over landing the new job, traveling so much. I was lonely, sad to say good-bye, tired from parenting alone so much, stressing over organizing the move. When he was gone, he was in the Eastern Time Zone, which reeked havoc on our communication. Now that we are all under one roof, things are better. We aren't as stressed about money, he isn't as stressed over his job, E-Boo is older and more self-sufficient. We are happier. But, things can always get better, right? We've found a great baby sitter that drives, so are able to go on dates from time to time, which is never a bad thing. Part of our marriage prep was to have a date each month, and to take turns planning it. We should do this again!
6: Get E-Boo in classes. New parish has tons for a little one to do. Sunday School, Pre-School, Pee Wee sports. But, you have to be 3 when the school year starts. So we are waiting until fall on this. I'd love to get him into SOMETHING right now. Ideas?
7: Take a fun trip, not to see family. Lots on the calendar! Later this month, The Hubs and I are joining some friends to tour the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky. We'll see the sights around his home state. I am coordination the wedding of a dear friend in August in California, and I think The Hubs will come with me for a long weekend. I have never been to the West Coast, so I am very much looking forward to this. Finally, I am going to NYC in October. I'll see friends, musicals, eat, drink and see a dear friend get married in Delaware. I'm sure we'll get back to Iowa for a bit here soon, too. So pumped!
8: Get involved in singing/theater. I am unsure about this one. So I am going to change it up to Get Involved and create a life in Indy. It might be theater. It might be a job. Who knows. Ideally, I'll find a group of friend not unlike the cast of Cougar Town, I mean, I live on a Cul De Sac! A few weeks ago, I attended a dinner for a society at church. There, I was sat next to another young mom who also has a 3 year old little boy. Last week, she and I took our kiddos to the Children's Museum. It was a fun morning! We chatted about hanging out again soon, so hopefully there is a second date.
9: Refine church obligations. Well, I'm no longer crazy busy at my old parish, because I'm no longer at my old parish. Here, I am taking my time and getting involved slowly. I think, however, this needs to be a party of #8. Which frees up a goal!
10: Pay off final credit card. I am going to group this in with #4 and our finances. Another blank goal slot!
