Last week, we had to take off for Texas on a spur of the moment road trip. Cs
uncle Jay had passed away and he wanted to be able to attend the funeral. We
were debating between him going and all of us going. Well, I have an aunt &
uncle in Dallas , and as luck would have it, my
dad was in Dallas
for work. So we packed up quickly, threw the kid, the dogs and some food into
the car and took off.
E did pretty well. By the time he got cranky, it was bed
time, so he fell asleep. The dogs did fantastic! I sat in the back with E and
Chloe snuggled me back there, with Cocoa
up front, guarding the cooler. We rolled into Dallas at about 4AM, unloaded and crashed for
a few hours.
Now, staying at my aunts is like staying at a B&B. She
is an awesome cook and has a comfortable house. She collects antiques, so we
had to move a few pieces out of a toddler reach, but other than that, it was
perfect. Even more perfect was her fenced in yard and 2 dogs, Meaghan and
Molly. C & C just loved being able to run and play; not to mention her “gourmet”
dog food!
During our stay there, I learned how to play (and dominate
at) Texas Hold ‘Em. Never play poker with an actress, I say. My dad came up for
dinner one night, and the next my cousin came over. I hadn’t seen her since
before I met the Hubs!
Of course, it wasn’t all fun and games. Our main reason for
the trip was for the funeral of Chad ’s
uncle. Most of the KY Collins’ were already there for the few days before, to
be able to say good-bye. I had met Jay a few times, but not his two kids. So of
course, it was great to meet them and see the rest of the family. In fact, there
is another Stacy Collins out there, with curly hair at that! So, in one week, Ethan got to see both of his grandpas and tons of family! Here is a picture of E and his uncle Michael, taking a nap:
So, now that we are home and I can catch up, I owe you a few
