Resolution Recap - January in review

Well, January has come and gone. I celebrated my *gulp* 30th birthday, and my son had his 1st! We had an impromptu trip to Texas; great to see family but for a sad reason. I have (mostly) stuck to my resolutions. Have you? Here is the rundown:

  • Get Healthy I have my yearly “lady” doctor appointment, if you know what I mean. Everything DOWN THERE came back normal, but I am waiting on blood results. Doc thinks I maybe have PCOS or a thyroid issue. Once I know for sure, I’ll update here. I have stuck to a decent diet. I have a healthy smoothie for breakfast; coffee mid-morning; a filling lunch (usually soup and a salad); and a pre-planned dinner. And gobs of water. Well, Crystal Light. I just can’t chug gobs of water all day. I have to have flavor. Our trip to Texas threw my body for a loop though – fast food on the road; we stayed with my aunt & uncle who have fully adapted a low-carb diet. My tummy and plumbing was super confused!
  • Eat less red meat. I’m doing really well with this! Although, when in Texas, I had to have a WhatABurger. I couldn’t resist. Other than that, I’ve been subbing chicken/turkey for beef in casseroles. And this weekend, I plan to have a fantastic steak. It’s really my favorite.
  • Get Active. I admit, I way suck at this. My Wii Fit Balance Board had to be dusted today. BUT. Tomorrow is a new day. I’ve rewritten my daily schedule and have penned in time to do this. I’ll report.
  • Organize. I’ve been posting my organization blurbs here from my New Bible. Gosh it feels good. I am the type that needs control and order. Its pretty darn fantastic. This month delves into organizing junky areas in the house, so I’m really looking forward to Fridays! Stay tuned!
  • Get out More. Although I’ve been a member of the Moms Group at my church for nearly a year, I just finally made my first Moms Night Out last week! We went to a place where you can paint pottery. I made a super cute Cookies For Santa plate and matching mug. They are ready to pick up tomorrow; I can’t wait to see the final product! As for getting out with the Hubster, we have several dates lined up this month. We plan to see The Lighting Thief, hit up the Mardi Gras party at our church and catch ISU stomp Colorado in Boulder. I’m really excited for the game. I’m not a huge hoops fan, but I love my Clones and have been DYING to see Boulder! Getting Eboo out – well, he’s become a regular in the nursery during Mass. And we’ve been going to story time. Any suggestions for more outings? I am thinking the aquarium would be fun!
  • Donate. We gave blood for the Haiti disaster. I am still doing choir. I’m planning a Valentines Day party for the kiddoes of the Moms Group. I gave some wipes to the nursery. I am a Catechist for the religious ed program. I’m doing pretty well, I’d say.
  • Pray more. Yep. Daily!
  • Time for myself. I’m gearing up for my monthly pedi sometime this week, likely Saturday afternoon. I’ll be getting a super girly pink in honor of Valentines Day! And I mentioned before attending the Moms Night Out last week, and plan to hit up the one this month (BUNCO!!) and the book club.
  • Blog. Here I am! Although I need to find more to blog about than just my organization project. I have a few books on the list, but I’m coming up blank beyond that. Anything you want to hear about?
  • Washing face nightly. (I am NOT being paid by nor have I received free product) I am loving the Clinique 3-step system. I am drydrydry, so have the super mild face wash, super mild toner and the awesome yellow lotion. I also have a tinted SPF15 lotion and an antioxidant-filled night cream. I want to get their line geared towards exfoliating and renewing your skin.

See you in March!

  1. Good progress babe. Way better than mine, but I've never been a multitasker.
