The Hubs had the week off. Mostly, we hung around the house and relaxed and did projects. But we did take one morning to have a bit of a vacation.
First off, it was National Donut Day. Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts (which we don’t have) and a local chain, Lamars, were all participating. With FREE donuts! Guess what we had for breakfast? E loved it. Well, he only ate the icing off, so I guess he loved the icing! I had my usual original glazed and some milk. Delish!

| Tiny Orange House |
Then we headed a bit out of town towards Tiny Town. This is a little amusement park that has small, child-sized buildings, a train and a playground. There is also a small gift shop (had to get my obligatory magnet) and a snack bar.
Tiny Town was originally built in 1915 by a transportation giant, for the amusement of his daughter. After 5 years, he opened it to the public. Over the years, its closed and opened several times. Finally, in 1990, it was turned into a not-for-profit and the buildings are sponsored by companies and individuals. Some look like old Denver buildings (like the jail and first bank).

| Slide! |
There are reproductions of buildings outside of Denver (my favorite, the American Gothic house - found in Iowa!) and then there are your basic buildings. Some you can climb into, but most are covered with plexiglass and have scenes set up inside. It was really fun to watch E-boo explore these buildings. But he REALLY likes the playground. He just loves slides! He is at the point now where he can go down slides all on his own. Its pretty cute to watch.

Watching the toot-toot
with Daddy |
Then he heard the “toot-toot”!!! It was coming down the tracks around the playground. We waved at it as it went by and then headed back to the depot. We were dangerously close to melt-down time, but E held out. Finally, the train pulled up and the conductor hollered “all aboard!”. We hopped on, gave him our tickets and we were off!
The train takes you around the whole park, over a tiny stream and through a tunnel. They have set up little scenes and its just cute. He barely blinked during the whole 10-minute ride. Unfortunately, my camera had died by this point, so no pictures. I guess we’ll have to go back!
We intended to hit the tour at Red Rocks also, but there was a show there that night, so you couldn’t get back stage. We’ll do that soon enough!
