Hoosier Daddy?

And now, for the reason for the change of title.

As I mentioned, we are no longer "mile high"... That is because The Hubs got a shiny new job at a great company! He is doing about what he did before, but closer to home & family, and with more money (always a bonus).

It was a tough decision to leave Colorado. We had built a great life there. Hubs had a good - frustrating at times - job. I had many things going on through activities I'd joined at church. E-Boo was born there. We had a great circle of friends. But, we knew something could be better. We struggled financially, I missed the mid-west and we longed to be closer to family.

Our church - which is where we were most active and had made the most friends - had recently gotten a new priest, and the sense of community that we new and loved had changed. The people there are still amazing, but we were no longer leaving (insert parish name here). That made it much easier to make our decision. (In fact, had we stayed, we'd likely be church hunting as we speak)

Actually, the job randomly found The Hubs. His most recent manager at his old company - before he became his manager (follow?) - knew he wasn't totally happy. So he was sending Hubs job notices. Hubs applied and interviewed for a job in Philly, but I wasn't feeling the East Coast. When the Indy job came up, it just felt right. We both have family in Indy suburbs, and Hubs family & home town is only 4 hours south. My family & hometown is about 8 (which is way better than the 12 when we were in Colorado!).

He flew out here for an interview and it went well. When he was here, he attended Mass at the parish we would join, should we move. It is named after an obscure saint. He got the job offer of a Tuesday, which happened to be All Saints Day. Although we were 98% secure that this was the right move for us, Hubs wanted to pray on it. He attended Mass that night. Father gave his homily about his favorite saint that night - her name being that of the parish Hubs attended when he was out for the interview. Freaky, right? Just one of a billion signs that this was the right decision for us.

He started working for the new company in early November, and yes, we didn't move until late January. Those were a long few months for us, with him flying out Monday and home Friday, living in a hotel room, eating restaurant food. And me at home, parenting our toddler alone most of the time, having to find sitters so I could stay active. But, it has paid off. We are here!

We bought right away and are loving our new home. E-Boo (and the dogs) have a giant yard to run around in. We have space and room for entertaining. And we have a hot tub!! The house is about 15 years old and could use some updates - details and plans will show up in future posts.

So, we are living in Indiana. Again. And hopefully for good. But, don't call me a Hoosier!!

  1. I had NO idea about the Saint connection! That gave me goosebumps.
